Description

Want the perfect cocktail for your next dinner plans?

Try switching up your traditional margarita with this quick recipe: frozen mezcal-rita! We love making these beauties since they are quick, simple and super refreshing. They can be a great companion to your taco night or a fun happy hour drink, you chose.

Mezcal has a smokey taste that varies from the smooth taste of tequila. This is due to the process in which it is made, where the agave is cooked in underground ovens, giving the liquor its distinctive taste.

Of course, the taste difference is easier to appreciate if you drink the spirit on the rocks but, for all of those who prefer sipping on sweeter cocktails, mixing up tequila and mezcal will give you interesting notes of flavor.

Steps

  1. Place salt or Chile powder on a small plate. Spread lime juice on the rim of your glass and dip into salt/ Chile mixture. Set aside.
  2. Place the lime juice, mezcal, orange liqueur, syrup, and ice in a blender and mix until you get a slushy-texture.
  3. Pour the mix into your glasses and add a fresh lime slice for garnish.
  4. Salud!

Author Notes:

  • Feel free to get creative with your margarita. We like the traditional version because of its simplicity but adding different fruits can also make delicious variations. We recommend adding some chunks of frozen mango, pineapple, or berries.
  • No orange liquor? No problem! You can sub it for grapefruit or orange juice and still get great results.
